Creative Assembly’s long-running Total War series is trading history for high fantasy with Total War: Warhammer, a new turn-based strategy game based on Games Workshop’s Warhammer property.
Total War: Warhammer is coming to Mac, SteamOS and Windows PC “soon,” publisher Sega announced today. Sega said it has an “epic trilogy of titles” planned for Total War: Warhammer. The first game will combine with a pair of stand-alone installments and additional content packs, according to a release.
Sega and Creative Assembly also released a cinematic trailer for the game today which shows off the monsters, magic and infantry that will come into play in the game’s mix of turn-based and real-time tactical battles.
“We’ve always loved the Warhammer universe, and couldn’t wait to approach it with the same colossal scale and authenticity that has characterised our titles for the last 15 years,” said Total War: Warhammer project lead Ian Roxburgh in an announcement. “We’re bringing it to life in a way that nobody’s attempted before.”
Total War: Warhammer‘s existence was outed earlier this year, thanks to a Total War artbook, though we’ve known about Creative Assembly’s plans to work with Games Workshop for quite some time.
