Final Fantasy creator teases fans with a look at canceled game Cry On

In 2005, Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi announced a new role-playing game called Cry On from his studio, Mistwalker Corporation. By 2008, however, the project was canceled — and today, all we have are the remnants.

Sakaguchi recently surfaced one such item, a trailer that features a young woman sprinting through a cavern filled with shadows. Just as her fate begins to look bleak, she uses her power to summon an incredible giant and turn the tides. You can watch the video above to see it play out.

Sakaguchi was set to work on the game’s scenario and production, while longtime Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu was creating its music.

Mistwalker, of course, went on to create games such as Blue Dragon, The Last Story and, most recently, Terra Battle.
