Fortnite kicks off second closed alpha with a livestream this afternoon

Fortnite, the upcoming action-strategy title from Epic Games, opened its second alpha test this afternoon. An official livestream of gameplay will air at 4 p.m. ET.

The alpha, called “Online Test 2,” ends on April 14 and will run from noon to midnight each day. Everyone playing in the alpha will have to start from scratch; no progress will be carried over from the previous alpha in December.

In Fortnite, players harvest, craft and build weapons and construction materials to create a fort with traps and weapons, and withstand an extra-dimensional invasion (or, in PvP, repel another team and conquer its base.)

Invitations appear to have been sent already over the past week, with the last batch going out last night. There will be weekly private streams; Epic will post links for those on the game’s blog.

Fortnite is still expected to launch on Windows PC sometime this year. For those who have played or followed Fortnite‘s development, a full listing of patches, fixes and upgrades since the last alpha may be read here.
