Nintendo’s amiibo are hot commodities, with the next wave coming in May, and GameStop will start taking reservations in stores for those upcoming figures this afternoon, the retailer announced today.
You can head to your local GameStop today to reserve the following amiibo, all of which will be released May 29: Ness, Robin, Charizard, Pac-Man, Lucina, Wario, Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl and Splatoon three-pack. The single figures will each cost $12.99, with the Splatoon set (Boy, Girl and Squid) selling for $34.99. Reservations will begin at 2 p.m. CT.
Ness will be available exclusively at GameStop. The company will also be selling a bundle of six Super Smash Bros. amiibo — Ness, Robin, Charizard, Pac-Man, Lucina and Wario — for $77.94. You won’t be saving any money over buying them individually, but you will save yourself the hassle of having to hunt down the six figures separately.
Two other figures in next month’s wave of amiibo are also retailer exclusives. Jigglypuff will be available only at Target, and pre-orders are up now. Amiibo Inquirer reports that Greninja will be sold only at Toys R Us, with pre-orders set to begin tomorrow, April 3. We’ve reached out to Toys R Us for more details, and will update this article with any information we receive.
Update: Greninja is exclusive to Toys R Us, a representative for the retailer confirmed to Polygon today. Toys R Us will begin taking pre-orders for Greninja as well as Charizard, Wario, Pac-Man, Lucina and Robin on its website tomorrow. Greninja will sell for $13.99 at Toys R Us, and you can see an image of the figure below.
The rep also noted that Toys R Us is offering a buy one, get one 40 percent off deal on all existing amiibo figures from now through Saturday, April 4.
Update 2: Asked about timing, the Toys R Us representative said pre-orders will go live some time from 7-9 a.m. ET.
GameStop is also taking online pre-orders for amiibo, but it looks like the website is being hammered right now.
