Nintendo DS and Nintendo 64 titles launching on Wii U Virtual Console

Nintendo’s long-discussed plans to bring Nintendo DS and Nintendo 64 titles to the Wii U Virtual Console have come to fruition, as games for both platforms will begin rolling out on the store front today, Nintendo revealed.

Super Mario 64 and Yoshi’s Island DS will both be available following today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, and both will cost $9.99. The following games will be rolled out to the platform over the following weeks:

  • WarioWare Touched – April 9, $9.99
  • Yoshi Touch N’ Go – April 9, $9.99
  • Donkey Kong 64 – April 16, $9.99
  • Mario Kart DS – April 23, $9.99
  • Paper Mario – April 30, $9.99

Prices on Nintendo 64 games already owned through the Wii Virtual Console will be cut down to $2.

Several control options will be available for games from both platforms — Nintendo DS games can either be played with the GamePad representing the lower screen, or with both screens shown on the gamepad, which would be held on its side. Nintendo 64 buttons can be remapped across the GamePad, so players can find the layout most comfortable for them.
