Pillars of Eternity developer Obsidian Entertainment released a patch for the role-playing game today, bringing it up to version 1.03 and fixing a serious bug, the studio announced on its forums.
The issue, which players discovered shortly after Pillars of Eternity‘s launch last week, involved equipping items to your character. Double-clicking an item to equip it would remove all passive abilities — forever. You could avoid the issue by instead dragging items you wanted to use to a slot in the inventory screen.
Obsidian was able to solve the problem in today’s update, according to the patch notes on the studio’s forums. The developers said they were also able to fix the bug retroactively for players who already ran into it.
“If you open your saved game in the latest patch, your characters will be repaired,” read the patch notes.
The 1.03 patch is a big one at more than 850 MB. It also includes a host of balance tweaks, fixes for crashes and other problems, and new features such as antialiasing options. The update is now live for the Steam version of Pillars of Eternity, and will be released on GOG.com and Origin as soon as it passes those services’ internal testing.
